Serves: 1
Ingredients:
- 2 large pomegranates
- Water
- Ice cubes (optional)
Method:
- Score the outer skin of the pomegranates horizontally and gently pry them open. Be careful not to cut too deeply into the seeds.
- Submerge the scored pomegranates in a large bowl of water and gently pull the seeds apart underwater. This helps prevent the juice from splattering and staining.
- Once all the seeds are removed, discard any white membrane that may have come loose.
- Place the pomegranate seeds in a blender or food processor.
- Pulse the seeds a few times to break them apart and release the juice. Avoid over-blending to prevent the seeds from breaking down and making the juice bitter.
- Strain the blended mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean bowl. Press down on the pulp to extract as much juice as possible.
- Discard the leftover pulp and seeds.
- If desired, add ice cubes to the juice to chill it before serving.
- Pour the fresh pomegranate juice into glasses and serve immediately.
Notes:
To make the juicing process easier, you can also use a handheld citrus juicer or a dedicated pomegranate juicer. Additionally, you can store any leftover juice in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
