Ingredients:

- 1 lb (450g) ground beef or lamb


- 1 large onion, finely chopped


- 2 cloves garlic, minced


- 1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled


- 1 teaspoon dried oregano


- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon


- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste


- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped


- 10 sheets phyllo dough


- 1/2 cup olive oil or melted butter for brushing

Method:

- Prepare the Filling:

- In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté the onion and garlic until translucent. Add the ground meat and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain any excess fat.


- Stir in the feta cheese, oregano, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Cook for a few minutes until well combined. Remove from heat and stir in chopped parsley. Allow the mixture to cool.

- Assemble the Pie:

- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly oil a 9x13 inch baking dish.


- Lay one sheet of phyllo dough in the dish, allowing it to overhang the sides slightly; brush with olive oil or melted butter. Repeat with four more sheets, brushing each with oil or butter.


- Spread the meat mixture evenly over the phyllo base. Cover with the remaining phyllo sheets, oiling each layer, including the top.

- Bake:

- Fold the overhanging dough over the top and brush with more oil or butter. Score the top lightly in a diamond or square pattern to allow steam to escape.


- Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes, or until golden and crispy.


- Let the pie rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes:

- Phyllo dough dries out quickly; keep it covered with a damp cloth when not in use.
